The regular season of MPL Indonesia Season 17 comes down to its last three days. Week 9 kicks off on Friday, May 22, runs through Saturday the 23rd, and wraps up on Sunday, May 24, with eight matches that will lock in the final MPL Indonesia standings for May 2026 and decide who books a ticket to the June playoffs.

If you are following the MPL ID S17 playoff race, this is the weekend where everything gets settled. Here is the full breakdown, team by team, with scenarios.

๐Ÿ“Š Where Things Stand After Week 8

Week 8 shook up the middle of the standings and confirmed two things: ONIC are your Regular Season champions, and RRQ Hoshi are out.

7Alter Ego77-7-318-21
8NAVI66-9-317-20
9RRQ Hoshi11-13-215-26

Tiebreaker rules: Match wins first, then game differential, then head-to-head.

Three teams share 8 match points (Dewa, EVOS, TLID). Three more sit on 7 (Geek Fam, BTR, Alter Ego). NAVI trail at 6. The gap between 2nd and 8th place is just two match points, and a single weekend can flip the entire bracket.

๐Ÿ† ONIC: Locked In, Still Dangerous

ONIC wrapped up the Regular Season title with a dominant 12-2 record and a ridiculous +20 game differential. Kairi, Kelra, and the rest of the Sky Kings have been on a different level all season. Their upper bracket semifinal spot was locked weeks ago.

Week 9 schedule: BTR on Saturday (20:15 ICT) and EVOS on Sunday (17:15 ICT).

ONIC have nothing left to prove in the standings, but their results will decide other teams’ fates. If BTR or EVOS steal a win off ONIC, seeding could flip completely. Do not expect ONIC to coast, though. This roster plays every match like a playoff series.

๐Ÿ”ฅ The Battle for 2nd: Dewa United vs EVOS

Whoever finishes 2nd joins ONIC in the upper bracket semifinals with a Round 1 bye. Finishing 3rd or below means starting from the play-in round on June 10.

Dewa United (8 MP, 8-6, +5 NGW) came into Week 8 looking comfortable in 2nd. Then they lost both matches. ONIC swept them 2-0 on Day 1, and EVOS crushed them 2-0 on Day 3. That 0-2 week dropped their game differential and opened the door for challengers.

Dewa play BTR on Friday (15:15 ICT) and RRQ on Sunday (14:15 ICT). On paper, those are winnable. BTR have been inconsistent all season, and RRQ sit at 1-13 with nothing to play for. But Dewa’s Week 8 collapse showed cracks in their composure under pressure, and BTR just swept Alter Ego 2-0 last weekend. Muezza and the crew cannot afford another slow start.

EVOS (8 MP, 8-7, +3 NGW) finished Week 8 on a high after dismantling Dewa, but also lost to NAVI on the same weekend. Their record sits at 8-7 because EVOS have already played 15 matches while Dewa and TLID only played 14. That means EVOS have one game left: ONIC on Sunday at 17:15 ICT.

Beating the Regular Season champions is the only path for EVOS to climb. Alberttt and the squad showed they can perform against top teams, but ONIC have dropped just two series all season. If EVOS lose and Dewa win both remaining matches, EVOS stay in 3rd or could slip lower depending on tiebreakers. The good news for EVOS: they own a 2-0 head-to-head over Dewa (swept them in both Week 4 and Week 8), which becomes the decider if match points and game differential end up tied.

๐ŸŽฏ Team Liquid ID and Alter Ego: The Direct Clash

TLID (8 MP, 8-6, +1 NGW) quietly hold the same number of match points as Dewa and EVOS. Their game differential is lower, but two more wins in Week 9 would push them into serious contention for 2nd.

Alter Ego (7 MP, 7-7, -3 NGW) need wins badly. They dropped both matches in Week 8, losing to ONIC 1-2 and getting swept by BTR 0-2. That slide pushed them from the top half of the table down to 7th.

These two meet on Friday at 18:15 ICT. TLID won the first leg 2-1 back in Week 5, so Alter Ego are looking for revenge. For AE, a loss here combined with BTR or Geek Fam wins could push them out of the top 6. For TLID, a win locks in at least a 4th-place finish and keeps the upper bracket door open.

TLID also play Geek Fam on Saturday at 14:15. If they sweep both matches, they finish at 10 match points, which could be enough for 2nd depending on other results.

AE’s second match is against RRQ on Saturday at 17:15. That should be a comfortable win given RRQ’s record, but underestimating the Kings when they have nothing to lose is never smart. RRQ already played gatekeeper all through Week 8.

โš”๏ธ Geek Fam, BTR, and NAVI: Fighting for the Last Spots

The playoff cutoff is 6th place. Three teams exit after Week 9, and the math says NAVI are in the biggest trouble.

Geek Fam (7 MP, 7-7, +1 NGW) have two matches: TLID on Saturday (14:15) and NAVI on Sunday (20:15). Their game differential is slightly better than BTR and Alter Ego, so winning even one match should keep them inside the top 6. The NAVI match on Sunday could turn into an elimination game if both teams enter it needing a result.

BTR Vitality (7 MP, 7-7, -3 NGW) had a strong Week 8, sweeping both Geek Fam and Alter Ego. That momentum matters. They face Dewa on Friday (15:15) and ONIC on Saturday (20:15). Beating Dewa would be massive for BTR’s seeding and could knock Dewa out of the 2nd-place race. ONIC will be the tougher ask, but BTR already upset the Sky Kings 2-1 back in Week 3.

Alter Ego (7 MP, 7-7, -3 NGW) share the same record as BTR and Geek Fam, but their game differential is identical to BTR’s at -3 with more total games played (18-21 vs 16-19). AE need match wins more than anyone. Losing to TLID on Friday would put them in real danger heading into the RRQ match.

NAVI (6 MP, 6-9, -3 NGW) produced the upset of Week 8 by sweeping both EVOS and RRQ to keep their playoffs dream alive. Jiizee and the squad play just one match in Week 9: Geek Fam on Sunday at 20:15. A win ties them with Geek Fam on match points and forces tiebreakers. A loss ends their season.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Key Scenarios to Watch

Dewa clinches 2nd if: they win both remaining matches (BTR, RRQ) AND EVOS loses to ONIC. Dewa would finish at 10 MP with a healthy game differential, out of reach for everyone except a 10 MP TLID run, where tiebreakers would decide it.

EVOS takes 2nd if: they beat ONIC AND Dewa drops at least one match. EVOS would sit at 9 MP with a head-to-head advantage over Dewa (2-0 across both legs this season).

TLID steals 2nd if: they beat both AE and Geek Fam to reach 10 MP, AND Dewa loses to BTR. At 10 MP, TLID would need game differential to separate them from Dewa, but their Week 9 momentum could make this scenario real.

NAVI survives if: they beat Geek Fam on Sunday AND either BTR or Alter Ego lose their remaining matches. At 7 MP, NAVI would force tiebreaker calculations with whichever 7 MP team drops a match.

RRQ’s role: The Kings play twice (AE on Saturday, Dewa on Sunday) despite being eliminated. Their results directly impact the seeding race. If RRQ upset Dewa, the entire upper bracket picture changes.

What Happens After Week 9

The top 6 advance to playoffs at the Jakarta International Velodrome from June 10 to 14. Seeds 1 and 2 receive a bye into the upper bracket semifinals. Seeds 3 through 6 start in Round 1. All playoff matches are Bo5, except the Lower Bracket Final and the Grand Final. The two finalists qualify for MSC 2026 at the Esports World Cup.

ONIC have their spot locked. The fight for the second bye is between Dewa, EVOS, and TLID. And for at least two teams sitting between 5th and 8th right now, this is the last weekend of competitive MLBB they will play this split.

Three days. Eight matches. Every series counts.
