The road to the Esports World Cup runs through Latin America, and 18 squads are fighting for just two slots. The FFWS LATAM 2026 EWC Qualifier kicked off on April 4 and wraps up on June 13, with a $150,000 prize pool and something far more valuable on the line: a ticket to the biggest Free Fire event of the year.
π What’s at Stake
Free Fire returns to the Esports World Cup from July 15 to 18 with a dedicated $1,000,000 prize pool and 24 teams from every competitive region. Garena expanded the field from 18 teams in 2025, opening wider doors for regions outside Southeast Asia to compete at the top level.
The EWC was originally scheduled for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but multiple reports from mid-May indicate the tournament could relocate to Paris, France due to travel disruptions linked to the conflict in the Middle East. The Esports Foundation has not officially confirmed the change, so the final venue remains unclear.
The LATAM region sends its top two finishers from this qualifier. EVOS Divine from Southeast Asia already locked their spot as defending EWC champions. Everyone else has to earn it through their regional leagues.
π The Standings After 14 Jornadas
The Regular Phase wraps on May 24, and the picture at the top is starting to take shape. Here’s where things stand after 14 rounds of play:
| # | Team | Points | Kills | Booyahs |
| 1 | LYON | 1,126 | 755 | 10 |
| 2 | LeviatΓ‘n | 943 | 625 | 11 |
| 3 | Gun Dynasty | 923 | 600 | 7 |
| 4 | Nova LegiΓ³n | 758 | 478 | 5 |
| 5 | Movistar KOI | 732 | 456 | 5 |
| 6 | 9z Globant | 725 | 459 | 6 |
| 7 | Infinity E-Sports | 723 | 458 | 5 |
| 8 | MonouGG | 721 | 445 | 8 |
LYON are running away with this one. Over 1,100 points and 755 kills across 14 rounds put them comfortably ahead of the pack, with a 183-point cushion over second place. They’re picking up Booyahs at a steady clip and racking up eliminations faster than anyone else in the lobby.
LeviatΓ‘n sit in second with 11 Booyahs, the most in the tournament. They’ve had explosive individual rounds, including a three-Booyah performance during Jornada 11 that briefly closed the gap. But LYON’s consistency has been the difference.
The real drama lives between 4th and 8th place. Nova LegiΓ³n (758), Movistar KOI (732), 9z Globant (725), Infinity E-Sports (723), and MonouGG (721) are separated by just 37 points. That’s essentially one good lobby day. Any of these five could lock a top-four finish or drop out of contention entirely in the final rounds.
π₯ What Happens Next
The top four teams from the Regular Phase advance directly to the Grand Finals. Everyone else still has work to do.
Playoffs hit on May 30, where 12 teams battle through six matches. The top four from Playoffs join the Regular Phase leaders in the Grand Finals. Teams that fall short drop to a Repechage Stage for one last shot.
The Grand Finals use the Champion Rush format: teams play until someone crosses a set point threshold, then the next Booyah after that crowns the champion. It rewards squads that can turn on the aggression at the right moment, and LATAM teams have delivered some wild finishes under this system.
π Free Fire Esports in LATAM 2026: The Bigger Picture
Garena built out the global ecosystem in a big way this year. Beyond expanding the EWC field to 24, the publisher added new regional leagues for Nepal and the United States, and split the old Middle East & Africa circuit into separate MENA and Africa tournaments. The FFWS Global Finals later this year will also feature 24 teams in Bangkok, starting November 6.
LATAM has earned its place in this expansion. The region posted the strongest viewership growth among all FFWS regional circuits in 2025, with watch time jumping over 200% year-over-year. Organizations like LYON, LeviatΓ‘n, and KOI bring real fanbases to every broadcast, and the competitive level keeps climbing.
Two EWC slots for a region this deep might feel tight, but that’s what makes the qualifier worth following.
π¬ Who’s Making It?
LYON look locked for one of those two spots unless something goes seriously wrong in the final stretch. The second slot is wide open. LeviatΓ‘n and Gun Dynasty both have a realistic shot, and the gap between 4th and 8th is small enough that Playoffs could completely reshuffle the picture.
The Regular Phase wraps this week. Playoffs are ten days away. If you care about Free Fire esports in LATAM, this is the stretch that decides everything.
